Cool news, guys – Kacey Musgraves and Willie Nelson are planning to do a song together, maybe it’ll be on Kacey’s next album? That would be awesome! Read more below…
Kacey Musgraves has been on tour this month with Willie Nelson and Alison Krauss. And according to a new interview with Nelson in, of all places, CelebStoner, the “Merry Go Round” singer and the country legend are planning to collaborate on a recording project.
“Kacey and I are planning on doing a song together,” Nelson said in the interview, “an old song I wrote called ‘You Sure This Is Where You Want to Be.’ We’re going to do some recording together and that’s going to be cool.”
Nelson wrote the song (with Buddy Emmons) decades ago, and it first appeared on his 1965 album Country Willie – His Own Songs under the title “Are You Sure.” The song also appeared on the stripped-down 2003 collection Crazy: The Demo Sessions.
Musgraves has already gone on record as a big fan of that particular song. In a 2013 Facebook post, she called it “two minutes and 13 seconds of the realest s–t you’ll ever hear. Never gets old.”
That’s right, guys! Kacey will be on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon this Thursday, June 12! Be sure to set your DVR’s to record this one! She will be promoting her CMT Crossroads special, which airs the next day, June 13!
Also, if you couldn’t tell – we just put up a new layout. Hope y’all enjoy it.
Congratulations, Kacey! “Follow Your Arrow” has inspired all of us to do what we love and say what’s true to our hearts! ♥ So proud of Kacey for writing such meaningful lyrics.
39. Kacey Musgraves, ‘Follow Your Arrow’ (2013)
“Even if [people] don’t agree with the girls-kissing-girls thing or even the drug reference,” Musgraves said about her breakthrough song, “I would hope that they would agree that no matter what, we all should be able to love who we want to love and live how we want to live.” The heart of her drama lies in waiting for the establishment to catch up. Censored at the Country Music Association Awards and lionized by the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation, 25-year-old Kacey Musgraves has become one of the loudest symbols of young country musicians embracing progressive values. But like most of her debut Same Trailer, Different Park, “Follow Your Arrow” isn’t an attack on conservatism so much as an attack on any system that keeps us from being who we are, gay or straight, sober or stoned.
Kacey Musgraves is nominated for the 2014 CMT Music Awards! “Follow Your Arrow” is up for Video of the Year and Female Video of the Year! Congratulations to Kacey for being nominated twice! The awards show will air live on June 4 at 8/7C!
